I was really surprised (and happy) when I placed #4 in the recent raffle to benefit Jerry and Arleen Freeman. The prize I selected was the Burke D brass session black-tipped whistle (from an anonymous donor). The whistle arrived yesterday. What a thing of beauty! For a while, I just held it in my hands and admired the craftsmanship. After warming it a bit, I blew a few tentative notes to get the feel of it. Then I played “Ode to Joy” (one of the few tunes I know, but it seemed appropriate). This is truly a beautiful whistle, both to look at and to play.
Thank you to the “anonymous” donor for gifting me with such a fine whistle.
I also want to thank Jessie for her Herculean work of organizing and running the raffle and Talbert for the beautiful CD that I received just for buying a ticket. Talbert, I enjoy your music. Thank you.
Jerry, I am so glad that Arleen came through her surgery well. I know that I join with others in praying for her complete healing.
