Does anyone have a photo or links to photos of any of these? I believe the major maker was Rudall Carte & Co. Messrs Migoya and McGee perhaps? Also, does any modern makers do Radcliffe system flutes?
Hi Corin;
Look at:

Thanks guys!
I was just curious, not that I’d ever hope to tackle one of these, just been getting very inspired listening to Paddy Carty.
Yes, the man was AWESOME!
Question, would one get a similar-voicing from a modern wood Boehm-style flute?
I’m curious, that’s all.

I tried this route with a 1912 Rudall wood standard Boehm system, a slight difference in sound from my modern metal flutes, not any where near a simple system wood flute, or at least near enough for me. So I sold it. I think Paddy Carty developed his sound himself over years, it’s the player not the flute, and where have we all heard this before?

Hey Corin,
I recently bought a Radcliffe and had it sent to a repairman, so if you’re really dying for pics, I can send you some by email. (And prolly post some antique flute PrOn for the masses, once I find a host)
Beyond all that, I hope to document the pain that is getting a 19C flute repaired and the final result on the board once I get the girl in my paws.
PM me if you’d like more info.

Joanie Madden gets a pretty darned “woody” sound out of metal.
