To the best of my knowldege, there is only one place in the world where one would find traditional Malay dances performed to the accompaniment of Scottish reels and jigs. Where is that place?

BTW, I’ve been reading through the 1950’s National Geographics and there’s an article I read, Oct., 1953, about the healthy Hunzas, an isolated tribe living in the Himalayas, where the mountains reach eastward to Tibet and stretch west to Afghnistan. When the article was written, Pakistan controlled the Hunza’s foreign relations, defense, and communications, although Hunza controlled it’s own internal affairs.
The author relates many interesting facts about the Hunzas, and was one of the first western journalists to visit the tribe and documented many of the rumors, like their health, diet, longevity, and life style. The following is a paragraph from the article, page 517, and describes their interesting music, instruments, and dance.
“The next day was devoted to dancing. In the morning old men performed cerimonial figures, tripping lightly to the tune of pipe and drum. One red bearded gentleman, who told us he was 98, did a number which resembled a sailor’s hornpipe.”
Still warm. Another hint. The connection was less well known and of much less national importance than that with Nepal. The place is also very obscure and remote.

Hey Wombat, one of our band members had some freinds over last weekend, visiting from Australia. I told them I had some friend over there, and one of the places I mentioned was Wollongong. They said, “oh we live just an hour or so away from there.” So asked them if they knew about the U. They said they knew a few down people there, but no JB.
