Quick assistance? need to find a serial-to-usb adapter

Hi gang -

I have a serial port device and no serial port on my laptop. :frowning: I do have several USB ports. Can someone point me toward an inexpensive adaptor to make my serial cable connect to a USB port?

Working on the google searches, but there’s a lot of dead ends. I found one in a shop here on the high street, but it was £20!! There’s gotta be something cheaper, right?

I’m guessing a US store will be cheapest - if they don’t ship overseas I might be able to convince a buddy to send it along for me…

Thanks!

You’re so authentic!

Heehee, it took some effort to make my American keyboard do that on command. I remapped an unused key* to do £ and €, and with a little extra cajoling I can do the Irish vowels: á, é, etc

  • for some reason my Averatec laptop had two identical keys with \ and | on it, one above the enter and one in the bottom right corner. No idea why…

Edit - Well, there are tons of them on ebay UK, but I get lost amid the specifications.

I just want something with nine pins sticking out at one end so I can hook up my secondhand Palm m105, and at the other end a USB connector so I can plug it into the machine. Can someone help me figure out which auctions will meet that criteria?
