I can answer that question… nobody has one except me!
There are a couple on order, but the only Journeyman low whistles to ship so far have been keys other than F.
I shipped a low F#/G set just last week, but the customer didn’t want an F tube because he already had a Burke low F that he was quite happy with.
Good guess, but that’s not it!
I don’t remember who I heard mention that they used a professionally tweaked cheapie at sessions, and referred to it as a stealth whistle that they could sneak under the radar… that was where I got the name ‘Stealth’.
Journeyman was the first entry in a thesaurus under the word ‘traveler’, which is the name Pat O’Riordan chose for his aluminum whistles.
I couldn’t come up with anything I liked better, so ‘Journeyman’ stuck!
They really are better suited for traveling, because their thick aluminum tubes are quite sturdy… and the low keys are lighter than they would be with brass tubes.
They also don’t tarnish like brass, which seems to fare worse in a case or pouch than on a whistle stand.
