Question for non-US Guardian readers

When you visit http://www.guardian.co.uk online, is your browser redirected to a different URL?

Coming from a US IP address, I am now automatically redirected to http://www.guardiannews.com with the page header “Latest US news, world news, sport and comment from the Guardian”.

It’s nice that The Guardian wants to be the America’s newspaper. But really, one reason I turned to The Guardian is for a certain British home perspective on the news and selection of news. And what I’m getting now instead is what they think US readers want to see.

No, that gives UK domestic news only. It’s not the mix that used to be presented on the main page.

I know I could test my question by going through a non-US proxy server, but I’m too lazy.

According to their pull-down, you have only a choice of US or UK edition. From those, you can navigate to World News, or their other categories of coverage (Sports, Science, etc.)

Wouldn’t you just rather look at the pretty pictures at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.html ?

Ah, the UK pulldown, I forgot about that. Yes, that’s just the ticket. Takes you to Latest news, sport and opinion from the Guardian . Thanks, Kevin! :thumbsup:

No redirection for me. I’m in Europe but not in the UK.

The Guardian Weekly is far superior to the website. No ads, little fluff, in depth reporting, and a bargain.
I’ve subscribed for around 20 years because I like to know what’s going on in the world, and not have it filtered by the US press.
Cheap at ~$100USD per year.
