Anyone ever had experience with a brand of HDD called SimpleTech?

I took my wife to Burst Buy yesterday to use a gift certificate we received at christmas and noticed they had several of these. The only difference was the ones in the store were about $20 cheaper than the one referenced in the link.
For some time I’ve been toying around with getting an external HDD to store my favorite videos and whatnot so I don’t have to tie space up on my notebook, but I’ve been waiting to see what kind of advancements happen over the next year with SSDs.
For this kind of price, though, I’m very seriously tempted to go back and buy this sucker. 500gb for $100; that’s a fair price, no doubt, if the product is good.

According to the reviews, it seems to tend to crash.

Yeah, I was reading those…but the reviews on other sites seem to be a bit better. That’s why I wanted a little more input from people I trust (dontcha just feel speeeecial? :stuck_out_tongue: ). I might hold out for something different, i dunno.
I’m over browsing on newegg.com for kicks…Between their better prices and fast shipping, i’ll probably just end up buying from them again anyways :wink:

The last thing you need is a HDD that tends to crash. I would pay more for one with more reliability. It is a pain when they do, and no reason to be the one who gets the arrows in your back to save a couple of bucks.
