Do you make your low flutes with a hole configuration that uses the thumbs? Does this even work? I am wondering because it would seem that using the thumb, first finger and ring finger of each hand would allow a player who doesn’t have gigantic hands to play a low cylindrical flute. But I’ve never played such a configuration so I don’t know how good it would be.
I have Vietnamese low C wooden notch flute and a personal pvc flute that is made this way. Of course, using both thumbs feels very stange if you are accustomed to fingering the flute with six fingers, but such a hole configuration does accommodate the playing of large flutes with small hands. I stopped advertising this configuration because I had some difficulty placing the thumb hole positions exactly where the customer wanted them. Please send me an email for further details. Thank you.
