I picked up a Susato VSB Kildare soprano D whistle recently and have noticed that the holes are not in a straight line with each other. As I look down the whistle, the holes gradually curve to the left a bit. I was wondering if this was typical for this whistle.

On my VSB the holes run straight down the tube.

Not a normal thing to find the holes misaligned on a Susato. But they’re really good about handling complaints and would most likely take care of it if you contact them about it directly. I had a problem with the fipple on a Susato VSB, contacted them about it, and had a new one within a couple days. The holes on my VSB are in a perfectly straight line, as are all Susatos I’ve played.
BD, you would be doing the manufacturer a favor if you let them know about the defect. http://www.susato.com/

-My VSB holes are also out of line-in a shallow, long arc. It doesn’t affect playability of mine, so I haven’t bothered sending it back. -I thought
perhaps it was an intentional ergonomic feature. -VSB players with in-line holes-eat your hearts out! Your in-line hole whistles are obsolete now.
