Question about rough edges

I noticed that my kerry low D has very rough edges along the inside of the fipple end opening. The bell end is quite smooth. Will these edges have an effect on the sound? should I remove them? I tried to do a search on the topic cause I know something similar was mentioned not to long ago but I couldn’t find it hehe.

You’re talking about the plastic mouthpiece, right? Burrs can sometimes cause sound problems although they don’t always do so. If you like the sound as is, I’d ignore them. Oddly enough, I’ve found, mostly by accident, that imperfections can sometimes improve the sound. Go figure. But if you think that they are big enough to cause a problem, you can always remove them CAREFULLY with a very fine grit emery cloth.

Before you do that, though, I’d contact Phil Hardy and see what he has to say about it. When it comes to tweaking whistles, I’ve learned to always err on the side of caution.

No I am talking about on the whistle tube itself. I do like the sound of the whistle just thought I would ask about this  I saw someone mention it in a thread earlier and thought I would ask. One does not learn without questioning  In all likelyhood I will leave it alone.
