Anyone taken this test? Any suggestions?
Now, I am not an expert on this, but from what I read I think you should be ok if you get a major college-level text in the subject and memorize it. Somewhere on the net, I saw where they have outlines of the content. It’s only the introductory course, right? Should be no problem.
To find textbooks, I go to the websites of decent universities with online programs, find the course, then take that course number to the online bookstore and search for it. It’ll tell you what books you need for that course. Then, just go to the publisher’s website and check the prices and confirm the ISBN and whatnot. Then, go to amazon.com and see if you can find a used one for cheap.
If you need help with this, just PM me. I teach, so I do this sort of thing all the time. Finding textbooks, not clepping.
But, you know, as I’m going back to college in January, I’ve been checking into this. The school I chose will take my previous degrees and doesn’t have requirements that I haven’t already met, so I don’t think I’m going to have to CLEP anything.
Another option you may wish to consider is just taking the course. Some of the courses that are required by the association that sponsors the national certification in the program I’m taking have to be taken in the exact format they specify, so there are a few I’ll have to take again or challenge. Depending on where you do this, it may be less expensive to just take the course. (That’s what I’ll be doing next semester!)
San Juan College in Farmington, New Mexico, is part of the New Mexico State system. Its tuition for out-of-state residents is $35 per credit hour, with pretty much no fees tacked on, and that course is online. Even if the course is full, if you explain who you are, I’ll bet they’ll make room for you.
I got a text, but memorizing 800 pages is not really an option!!
I alas need the credit NOW, so taking the course is not an option either. I did take basic Psych back in '69, but the school I’m planning on entering won’t take credits that old. As I read through the text, I’m finding that I remember a fair amount of it so hopefully I’ll be OK. Test is on Friday 
I’ll also need a basic Soc. credit as well as some sort of Lit-- probably American. From what I see on sample tests, Soc looks largely common sense. I’ve read TONS of lit of all sorts over the years, so I may be able to CLEP both of those, or perhaps take an online course over next summer.

College Level Examination Program
This is a series of tests administered by the same people who do the SAT. They can help you get college credit by taking a test without taking a particular course. Widely accepted by many colleges. At $55, they’re quite a bargain-- you can get credit for individual reading, life experience, etc.

Get and study the Barrons EZ-101 study guides for Psych and Sociology, and you should have no problems passing the CLEPs for either exam. For the English lit, there’s an “Analyzing and Interpreting Literature” CLEP that’s worth 6 credits, and pretty easy to pass if you read anything besides comic books in your youth.

Too late for the Psych-- I took it yesterday and kicked it’s butt! Range of possible scores is 20-80,and I got a 78. I will get the Soc. one though.
I checked with my school and they WILL accept that Analyzing and Interpreting CLEP, so I’ll sign up for that pronto. Always been an avid reader, so that one should actually be fun. Thanks for the tipoff.
