The name is not uncommon among older generations of Irish people and is pronounced Stay-she- ah. A friend of my grandmother had the name I recall.

I’ve always heard “stay-zhya” or “sta-zhya” (I guess more of a Russian or Hungarian inflection?). Gee, guess that helps. :roll:

Correct regarding the origin, but it’s pronounced as two syllables with an unvoiced “s”, i.e. “Staysha”.
