Umm, lets try to keep in mind that this is a family show

Teflon tape: I have a Chieftain soprano D and the joint on mine is also rather loose. My suggestion is to take all the string or tape or whatever is currently sealing the joint and use 2-4 wraps of Teflon tape. It might take a few tries to get the thickness just right but once you figure out how many wraps you need it works great - its inexpensive, it seals air great, it never seizes, and keeps the joint from sliding - I’m a big fan of Teflon tape (maybe because my Dad was a plumber).

Oh, get decent tape not that cheap crap you buy at Walmart for $0.19 - cheap tape snaps when pulled taut but good stuff is a bit stretchy and will seal small gaps better. The good stuff is easier to work with and leads to less waste so its actually less expensive over the long run (its only $1 per roll so its not going to break the bank anyway).

Hope that helps

I note that no less than 161 bad-minded people like myself had a look and then decided that they would, after all, respect the family nature of this forum.

What commendable restraint!
