problem with sample tunes on wooden flute obsession

Hi all,

I am in the throws of getting some new CD’s to listen to, and was considering the Wooden Flute obsession set, as Doc Jones has all three in,
the problem I am having is I wanted to listen to the samples on the worldtrad site, as all three discs might be overkill at the moment, I have listened to them before, I must admit for the purpose of seeing what a certain flute sounds like as opposed to buying them for great music, but now I have have settled on my custom Ormy I am in need of some great tunes played by an array of world class players.

The message I get up when I click on the Mp3 sample button is below,
windows media player loads and the message below appears in a small box, I have tried various suggested fixes, with no luck, all other web downloads work with no problems at all, all my proxy setting are as they should be.

any help would be much appreciated sponge

Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server. The server name might not be correct, the server might not be available, or your proxy settings might not be correct.

just to add this isn’t a recent problem, I have been trying for at least two weeks plus.

It works fine for me, sponge. Try right-click / download the mp3 to your computer, then play it from there.

Just order them all . . . it will save you time in the long run.

odd…working for me also

just order all 3

yes, get them all!

I don’t know that listening to the samples would serve much purpose for what you have in mind. The tunes on the WFO discs are from all different sources; many are off different albums of flute players, some were recorded (I imagine) specifically for the collection, and some are even live recordings of sessions, if I recall correctly. There are also various instruments accompanying the playing, and sometimes no accompanyment at all, and varying recording qualities. There’s no one song, or even sample of several songs, that would give you an indication of what an average song on the CDs sounds like.

I agree that it’s a great collection and well worth buying.

Working for me also, although I prefer to use WinAmp for playing.

CD Baby has samples for volume 1, at http://cdbaby.com/cd/woodenflute . I’ll have to see whether I can add sound samples to the Amazon.com pages (WFO1 & WFO2), as they did not do that themselves.

On Worldtrad.org, you do need to go to the pages for each volume and click (or right-click) on the MP3 icons next to each track. I have disabled direct linking to the MP3s from off-site, as various porn sites were including links, and pirate sites were using up my bandwidth to no good purpose.

Let me know if you get your listening problem straightened out.

BTW, it’s absolutely right that all the tracks are from a variety of sources, although mostly studio recordings. In each case, the setup for any particular player will vary as to the flute, player, studio layout, microphones, engineer, mixing and post-processing, etc. It is the task of the Mastering Engineer to attempt to blend these different ‘atmospheres’ as well as possible without sacrificing the intent of the player.
