Hello guitar players out there. I’ve a question for everybody who is able to answere it :wink:

I am working on Flook’s ‘Pressed for Time’ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_e1rAkGJzfQ) with my band. I play whistle and this part is hard enough. I am more than far away from knowing how to accompany it on guitar :wink:

I would be thankful for everyone who can tell me the basic chords (or maybe a little bit more). I can’t even see if he’s playin DADGAD or not.

I can’t really answer your question.

However I watched the clip and the guitar there is played in quite a percussive sort of way, ie. it seems to be complimenting the bodhran more than the flute and the whistle. Guitars are very versetile and so I leave you with this: Have you thought of making your own guitar arrangement rather than a straight cover version of the tune?

I understand either way, but I’d be interested in what you think.

Well, we’ve allready tried to make our own arrangement, but it sounds… :smiley: :laughing: :tomato: :boggle: …

I’ve searched and searched for about 30 minutes now… That’s all I found!

You may not need them anymore, but as has been said, Ed’s guitar in this tune is a little more part of the rhythm.

What I’ve generally done, from what I hear is something like this:

A part: Mostly staying on a modal A chord, perhaps going to G, etc…

B part: G-D-A

C part: Em-D-A

Those kind of progressions, if you will… though, that’s really only the basic. I’d agree, try and do your own version though, instead of covering bands :wink:

Yep, that’s basically it. The rest is knowing how to play backup. Drop-D or DADGAD would work equally well. And to accompany Brian’s Eb whistle, you’d capo on 1.

I have Gordon Duncan’s book. It’s a book for highland pipes, and there are no chords.

Pressed for Time is a cool tune.
