Kinda freaky.
It might suggest a migration toward half, 3/4 or full sets.
and in some cases it might reflect the number of would-be pipers who, as the popularity of the instrument increases, take it up only to discover that the temperament and complexity of little monster is more than they bargained for, that it demands more coordination than they command, etc.

FWIW, in my case, it is a migration to a half set. I’m loving this instrument. I’ve played guitars, basses, whistle, flute, bodhran, bones, mandoin, bouzouki, piano, trombone, and the Chapman Stick in my life, but never has an instrument felt as fulfilling to play to me as the uilleann pipes.

Piano accordion would be my brother’s bag. I’ll stick to my arsenal; oh, plus “Der Sackenfloete”!
There’s always the didgeridoo. Great instrument for learning circular breathing. Sort of turns one into a human drone.
Oh, thanks for reminding me: I’ve a D didgeridoo as well. I forgot because that’s the one I hardly play.
