Prayer From the North

Does anyone know where I can get the sheet music for this piece for the whistle?

Would that be this tune?

Which would also be this tune.

Straightforward but lovely tune! Simple enough to learn by ear or by watching. Just follow the young man’s fingerings. Slow down the video if you need to. Sorry, I do not have notation nor time to transcribe at this point.

Thank You Sir

So anyone know why we’ve got whistle sound with alto flute video, changing to standard flute at 0:41? (It’s really quite disturbing!)

I would still like the sheet music if anyone knows where to get it.

and bloody odd, too!

Thanks MTGuru, that is awesome !

I feel stupid for asking this but I will anyway. Can someone give a very simple explanation for reading this? I have seen some notation on internet in which lower octave was labeled with capital letters and upper octave with lower case letters. I have found some songs in which this was reversed. Which is the correct way of reading? Exactly what do brackets and numbers designate?
I at one time thought ABC notation was simply listing notes played. But evidently, I don’t really understand it.

It’s in abc format - see:
http://abcnotation.com/
Try posting the text into the website that MT mentioned:

and you’ll get music in “standard” notation.

Thanks, Mike

I can’t read regular music notation or abc notation and I’m afraid I’ll be limited to playing things that are in whistle tab. :frowning:

… for now

So many opportunities, and so little time ?

I have looked on internet for whistle tab for this song. Does anyone know of anywhere I could find it tabbed out? (little filled-in or blank circles)

No doubt if you have looked on the internet for whistle tab you have found the “tinwhistle font” or “whistle font”. If not, Google is your friend. Download and install the font to your computer. Then copy and paste the abc’s above. Then change the font to your new “whistle font”. Of course you could always re-write what is above in your own whistle tab hand.

Just wondering if anyone has come across (or created) whistle tab for this song. I love this song. I don’t read music and need it with little holes filled or empty or at least a list of notes by letter.

If anyone runs across it (or tabs it out) please let me know.

Thanks John! Fantastic service to your fellow whistlers, as usual.

Keith.

Concerning the tabs:

Check this site:
http://www.folkinfo.org/songs/abcconvert.php

It’s an online ABC converter like the one on concertina.net, but with plenty of options like transposing and creating tabs for different instruments in different keys.
Just choose tablature: Whistle, Key: D (or whatever)…
