Getting ready to set up practice sessions at home. I have a CD portable player w/ headphones and I have a cassette reorder (high end), adjustable speed control, VU meter, AC power supply and twin head mike. Which would you recommend to practice with? I’m thinking I may end up using both, one to record me and the other to play instruction music. Any ideas? ![]()
Oh, you definitely have to practice with both. You wouldn’t want to be a wiz on the cassette recorder and suck at the CD portable player. When you practice remember to start slowly, pressing the buttons one by one, until you are ready to speed up. Try to get away from the user’s manuals as quickly as you can. Good luck.
Susan slaps Bloomfield around with a large trout.
I can’t believe I posted such a question. Your answer was so logical. Okay… no more postings until I’m off the cough medicine ![]()
Norm, just pulling your leg abit. And I’ve been slapped around for it, too.
Sounds like a nice set up. Recording yourself is good (but you have to listen back carefully afterwards). Recording (decent) sessions and learning those tunes is also very good. ![]()
I liked the part where Susan slapped you with
the large trout.
I think the trout is getting a bad “rap” here… hahaha, get it? ![]()
That’s exactly what I’m trying to do.
Listen to the lesson example, record a run at it (in small doses). then listen to what you thought you played. I do know when you play back something you just recorded, it sounds much different than what you heard in your head. This worked for me in BG Banjo, so figured it would work well for whistle too. Just wondered if you all might have another plan/method? Susan, I could stand a “slap” with the 'ole trout myself, might loosen up this head cold
Thanks
