Practice makes perfect

Well, just 2 and a half weeks or so and I am starting to get results…
Persistence pays off… Don’t practice till you get it right, practice till you can’t get it wrong.
Just goes to show not to be put off when you first start with the whistle, it will get better with practice, much better…!
Anyway, I’m starting to enjoy it much more and feel a bit better now that I am starting to get some nice tunes out of it. If there are any other beginners out there, stay with it, and don’t be put off by whistlers who play at break neck speed on YouTube, Lol. Now, all that needs to be done is, making it sound clearer, get my breathing better, a bit more speed and a bit of ornamentation…
I only practice about an hour every day, so maybe I need to increase it to two or more…?

I have never progressed more as a musician than when I practiced 2 to 3 hours per day. But I had a teacher and was not a raw beginner. I think self directed practice for a new player may not yield such good results. I think your mind has to be programmed a bit with the idiom for the extra practice to help. In my case, I had already been playing a couple years.

I think that I may increase my practice time a little more and see how I go…
Since starting with the practice though, I have looked at ’ proper ’ musicians in a different light. You don’t realise the amount of time and dedication that goes into learning an instrument properly.
Always a learning curve, but a pleasant one…
