Possibly admitting defeat...file sharing (the legal kind)

We’ve recently switched over to satellite internet. Due to instabilities in an ad hoc wireless network, I’ve decided to switch back to a wired network. It’s much more secure, and reliable. Anywho, now that I’ve done that, I can’t seem to get our (2) computers to share printers and files. They could through the ad hoc network. They’re connected to the modem through a switch, and there are no IP address conflicts (that I know of). Any thoughts?

Are you running your own router box? There’s lots of these about, and they are quite inexpensive. I’m using one by D-LAN and have had few problems with it.

Well, it’s a Linksys workgroup switch. It works fine, and suplies a steady connection to all the computers. New development though: of the two computers, the other can access my shared folder and printers now, but I cannot access the other computer. The settings look identical to the best of my knowledge. Any suggestions?

Are you running firewalls? This is what usually screws up my network - gotta get all the bouncers to shake hands or they get snooty.
