Some may know of this product, but I wanted to inform those who might not. For years I had always used Brasso to clean and polish my whistles to remove oil and grime that overtime can dimish the whistle (especially those of brass). The only drawback is that Brasso has a odor which triggers migraines for my wife and my daughter. So for their sake I went searching for a low odor polish. I came a cross a polish that can be used not only on brass, but plastic, alluminum, chrome, copper, fiberglass, etc. You name it and it will work on it with the odor or possiblity of damage. It also provides a clear coating to protect the metal from finger prints, etc. The product "Blue Magic Liquid Metal Poish". You can find it at any retail store that sells cleaners. The cost is about $4.00 for 16oz.
Hope this has been of some help to those like me that can’t stand a dull whistle.
You can also get a jeweler’s polishing cloth that has no odor at all and makes no mess. One side is reddish (impregnated with jeweler’s rouge) and the other side is plain. YOu just buff the metal with the red and then the plain side and it works like a charm.
I buy jewelry polishing cloth from a company called Rio Grande but not sure if they have a min. order. But you can just type in jewelry polishing cloth in google for a ton of results, Or try talking to a local jewler or watch repairmen.
Blackhawk I wanted to give you a direct sight, but I order in bulk so I figured you would do better looking on google, Just a side note, I have been making custom casted metal jewelry, and other forms of metal art for a long time, a polishing cloth works great it becomes a good friend.
Both Harmonica covers and brass TWs clean up mighty well with a dollup of toothpaste ..rub rub scrub- now you know why Wrenboys smell of Colgatewhiskey!
You must wash off with clean water before dry buffing with dustcloth.
