Pluma cras -- or how to clean a windway

Ever get a speck of dust in a narrow (Overton) or fragile (wooden) windway?
Pipe cleaners are usually too thick, paper or blotter strips may leave lint..

Here’s a 100% safe, efficient and ecologically recyclable trick learnt from a French luthier.

Use a small feather, preferably goose.
Push its tip in holding it by the stem.
The small tooth-like things will collect and push the dust through, while gently sweeping the windway from lint, goo, smokers bits of lungs and all you’ve seen inside at least once…

Yeeeeah! Finally found a use for the numerous Canada Geese which are multiplying in this area…
Zub, just so you know, here we have to say “Freedom” luthier… :stuck_out_tongue:

Just off to round up a Muscovy drake then…then I just need the Overton to go with it. Whistle version of a feather duster - neat, although I sure hope I haven’t any spider’s webs in there…

  1. We got a similar bird (Bernache in Québecois and Freedom parlay) migrating through the marshes just down the trail from here. I never thought of collecting their feathers–thanks for the tip.
  2. I don’t mind the term! But I stay here…
