Since I’m new to whistle playing, and Making, I would like some feedback from my expierienced coleagues. I subbmitted a Song to the Clips and Snips Archive, it’s under NewPlayers. It’s the Top One “Amazing Grace Justin Panovec” If you have the time give a listen (it’s not long) and tell me if you hear any problems with the way the whistle sounds… Too Much Chiff? To Airy? I want to know. I’m new to building and I have never played a Low D whistle before so I don’t know what a “good” one sounds like.
PS Yes I know my spelling sucks
, and Yes I know the B is a little off Key, I’ll be *Trying to fix that today.
Thank You
JUSTIN
I think there’s a reason there have been no responses. It’s kinda like the old gong show. Nobody is too sure if you are serious or not. Neither am I. But I CAN say that (as I often say of myself) you not ready for prime time. If you are new, then you will be fine. If you’ve spent a lot of time getting to where you are now, abandon hope!
One further comment. I always can hear when a player is trying very hard, and I hate that. At least you are not guilty of that.
Oh no, not another learning experience!

The whistle sounded a bit distorted when I listened to it…possibly re-recording with a lower mic level would help. Be careful to take your time with the song–count carefully and feel the rhythm so that you can give each note its correct length. As you are playing it now, it sounds rushed. Congratulations on building your own whistle!

Sounds good. Maybe a little too good. You musclin’ in on my territory? Mebbe a little visit from Vinnie and Guido’ll help change yer addatude… ![]()
Very smooth tone to the whistle - I like it. Not too chiffy or airy. The flat note isn’t so far off that an enlargement won’t fix it - provided it’s not already big.
Keep up the good work! ![]()

I sent another snippit (scarborough fair, this time) to Tony because the echo I used distored the way the Whistle sounds in Amazing Grace… so the next one up will be raw, and uncut (no not girls g.w.) I realize that my skills are not Up to par but then again since I’ve only been playing about 3 and a half weeks I think they’re pretty good… This thread was to critique the sound of the whistle though… not my sub-standart skills… I’m trying to see if anyone sees any problem areas with the whistle…(besides the flat b). Like too chiffy, too breathy etc… like the post before this one… thanks BTY.
