Playing the flute with dentures

About playing the flute with dentures. There is a thread from Aug 2008 but nothing since then so I said that I’d start a new one.

After a long practicing, I got used to the dentures - embouchure-wise. The only thing is that I have noticed is that I salivate more than I did when I didn’t have dentures. This causes poor sound and also a kind of ‘softening’ of the lips which worsens the sound again. I only takes about a second to ‘dry’ my lips with my tongue which is fine if I’m playing in a group session. However if I’m playing solo taking a 1 or 1.5 second break sounds awful.

I’m just wondering if any other denture wearing flute players have come across this problem??

Thanks………
