Hola! I got an email from very nice gal who’s looking for an uilleann piper to play at her wedding in Newport, Ohio this October 27. On Googling the location, I see that it would be a 5.5-hour drive for me, which would mean having to stay overnight, pay someone to farm-sit, and ultimately maybe making 50 cents after fuel costs. I also see from Google that Newport is much closer to Pittsburgh, PA, Columbus, OH, or Parkersburg/Morgantown, WVA. Any pipers up thataway interested in doing this gig? She’s after music for the recessional and while they do the receiving line. She’s open to suggestions on payment.
