Pictures of Your Reeds

What with the sister thread showing the outer beauty of your lovers - figured it might be helpful to some to see up close and personal the inner workings of their chanters etc. as well. There are so many subtle variations on a theme and interesting designs for scrapes, edge thickness, elevation settings bridle placement and construction to say nothing of staples and how they’re put together! Thought this would be a nice place to get some photos out there for new and current reed makers to share their “inner beauties”.

The reed below is for my Seth Gallagher D chanter. Using a rolled copper staple (which did help my tuning issues quite a bit), spanish cane (also from Seth) and the ol’ black waxed nylon thread. Sounding pretty sweet to my ears now, but we’ll see how she plays in after a month or two. Since this one was just born a few days back it’s got some fine tuning work to be done as time will allow, but on the whole it’s playing in quite well so far. Very nice tone etc.

There is an existing thread under this title… David Boisvert sorta beat you to it there Brian lad.

Saweet! Sorry I missed it - looks like it got going about a year ago itself then. I’ll move my stuff there then. Thanks!

Now you’re just being downright sick!!! You Savage!

No problem, happy to be of service.

wooops  …I meant actual reamers…the things used for reaming chanters…no inuendo intended…so I’ve reworded it slightly to try and de-pornify it.

Cheers,
