Piccolo

Hey everyone. I currently have a Lauren piccolo that’s some sort of metal, probably aluminum but I’m not sure. I’ve been looking at other piccolos just for future reference but decided that the piccolo I want is one from my imagination. I wanted to know if anyone knew of any brand that has this kind of piccolo, or any flautist that has one like it made specially or anything. I’d like it to have a wood barrel, any kind of wood just not plastic(!) with gold keys. The headjoint would be silver with a gold lip plate. My favorite flute brand so far in my flute experience is Armstrong, but I’m willing to try anything.

If anyone could tell me anything I’d appreciate it!

God bless and happy fluting!

You might want to get in touch with these folks–they make a mean piccolo:

Why silver headjoint? Wood headjoint is the way to go. Go knock on Dr Eldred Spell’s door.

I think there are a lot of brands better than Armstrong out there. I hope this doesn’t offend anyone… i think Armstrongs have the clunkiest mechanisms and are very prone to get out of adjustment. Miyazawa or Muramatsu are my favourites, unless you want to go real high end, say into the tens of thousands of dollars.

Check out Roy Seaman piccolos. His picolos are played in the best orchestas around the world. He didn’t hire me when I applied, but he probably knew what he was doing. Robert

Roy Seaman’s piccolo line was obtained by Gemeinhardt, and they are available from that source.

I want a silver headjoint because I like the look, the feel, and that way it’s a balance between a metal piccolo and a wood. I do both outdoor and concert playing, so I need that balance
