I bet your thinking “Oh no not another question about what god damned flute he plays”, well to put you at ease it is nothing to do with the type of flute. It is in fact more proof that he IS NOT playing it.
Fair enough I may just be a beginner but I have been practicing Frere Jacques and know it somewhat. While watching the Inner Light episode at the point where Picard is sitting outside with his friend and after he leaves his wife speaks to him. Just the point after she picks up the slippers watch Picard.
When it zooms in you can hear Frere Jacques but the fingering is wrong. He is only playing the lower three notes but when you actually play it it goes DEFD DEFD then FGA FGA and then onto the next bit BABGFD.
Sorry thats just my view on it hope I havent offended anyone by bringing this back up lol I know some people must begetting fed up with it but I didnt see this anywhere else so I thought I would say.
Edit: sorted the notes for frere jacques, wasnt thinking what note was what.
And he couldn’t have played it if he wanted to. The Ressikan Flute was a resin-filled prop. You could’ve bought one for $1500 at the Star Trek Experience in the Las Vegas Hilton last year, but it looks like it’s gone now.
The length of the instrument is not even appropriate to the notes being played. It’s definitely a prop.
I made a high-D on my website that has been there for several years now and no one has ever bought one of those. Someone in a music store suggestion that I make one and that would probably be very popular.
