I saw an article about this site in today’s newspaper. It’s apparently got something like 4000 different pieces for piano and violin (mostly classical, I think), most for under $2 a pop. I believe the copyrites are all taken care of, too.

On a related subject, does anyone know of sites where I can get sheet music for bluegrass fiddle tunes? I thought I’d try learning some of those just to annoy people.
I think Twinkle Twinkle Little Star has been voted the most annoying fiddle tune.
I’m genuinely curious–are there any copyright issues to be concerned about with “classical” music? I imagine Beethoven’s relatives don’t receive any royalties.
My guess is that a sheet music company holds some sort of rights to the printed page/typesetting etc., so I can’t just photocopy and post the sheet music I bought from a store. But if I transcribe music using some sheet music software, I can post all the Beethoven I want, right?
Yeah, from what the article said, he was scanning in music published before 1923, and therefore not copyright protected. He says his goal is to offer “every classical note ever written”. Kind of cool!
