Dale, you heartless %@!$%^&!

Very, VERY nice set. So who do they belong to?

Mark V.

Do you have a picture of the Rose that we we were supposed to win from the CrisisCenter fundraiser?

Who won the Rose? (my new mantra)
Hope endures…sigh.

Dang, I am missing a few keys of Overtons, who’d a thought?

Hey Colin, how 'bout throwing in one of those stands with the purchase of every full set?

Loren

I’ll take the one in the middle.

sighs contentedly

mmmmm. I can die happy now.

So is this Bass A through Sopranno E?

Where are the modal whistles and tunable whistles. Keep making new inovations Colin; Loren has no real NEED for his money, you can have it. Honest.

Lovely pictures aren’t they? Funnily enough, the first time I have seen a complete set of my whistles in one place. We were overwhelmed when they turned up, these belong to Patrik from Sweden and he had the stand made himself, it is from Bass A down to Sop F. (D/C is on order Mark  ), the Bass G is too big to handle from what I gather.

As I said before Loren, if you ever get tired of playing the Olwell, you can now see how your Overton collection could look , I would make a stand for you as well then…

Colin

Uh-oh. A WhOA flare up.

Yup.

Oh yeah.

I’m starting to feel like a marked man, everybody wants my Olwell!

Mark, I don’t HAVE any money, otherwise Colin would get it - he isn’t getting my Olwell, that’s for sure!

Loren

WhOA-- BEAUTIFUL! Time to start saving up the hundreds of thousands of pennies that’s going to take.

Yup. Well said.

Drool! Covet! Blush! Hide my face in shame!

It’s ok! Now BREATH slowly! Count to 10!
Don’t cry or scream! JUST CALM DOWN!!!

3 down, 17 to go…

Every man should have goals

Dale you dirty rotten whistle pusher. I told everyone I could quit anytime. Thanks for picking me up and forcibly hurtling me off the wagon.
(no just try it, everbody’s doing it. Just blow.)

Just think, if you took the price of those whistles and invested it in Worldcom, Enron, or MCI stock you would have lost 90% at least, but if you had invested the amount in the whistle collection how it would have appreciated. Now we know where to invest the 401k.

I know I’d appreciate having that collection.

Okay, true story:

I used to work as a Manager for Capital One Financial (COF). During my time there I bought the vast majority of all the whistles I’ve ever owned. Now I could have put that money into company stock, as many of my co-workers did, but I bought whistles instead

I know, you’re thinking “Not so smart Loren”, and my former co-workers would have agreed…until yesterday that is, when the company’s stock lost 40% of it’s value in a single day! Several people I know personally lost hundreds of thousands yesterday, others that I’ve been in meetings with lost a million or more. Imagine that.

Will the stock rebound? Most likely, to a certain point anyway, in time. But here’s some food for thought: Buy and Olwell flute, for say $1300, and you can sell it any day of the week for 2-3 times that amount. A used Sindt will generally bring 1.5-2 times it’s retail value. Abell whistles rarely sell used for less than face value…

Sure, I had to liquidate a lot of my whistle “Stock” recently, but overall I lost little, if any of my initial investment, when averaged out over the whole lot that I sold. So, while my former co-workers watched the market and wished for a taller building on-site (from which to jump), I got a good laugh and played merrily on

Seems to me Ben Franklin didn’t know that much about whistles after all
