Hey there, I’ve got an extra Peter Noy headjoint that I’m not currently using. It’s a great sounding thing. It comes with a barrel and tuning slide but no body. Would go great on an old flute body probably or if someone wanted Peter would make a keyless body for it at a price of 700 euro. It’s blackwood with a thinned head (so it’s thickest around the embochure and kind of looks like a lip plate although the other wood has been taken away leaving that shape). It has a mother of pearl inlay across the embochure hole. The shape of the hole and cut is very similar to a modern flute embochure. It is an unlined headjoint, so the metal from the tuning slide only continues up the flute a little way. It’s got a threaded cork, and silver ball thing on with some nice wood turning on the end cap. To buy this new from Peter on it’s own would be 1100 he told me. He said the math doesn’t really make sense but that he can’t make a headjoint, barrell, and slide on it’s own for any less than that. Anyway, I would be looking for that much obviously and would be willing to consider offers if anyone is interested. It’s a really nice sounding thing, with a real pure timber tone off it. It’s got alot of volume as well. You can hear it on this video someone made at my local pub…Excuse the playing I wasn’t in the best form that night and wasn’t 100percent on the tunes Quentin chose either, but you can get a feel for how the flute sounds and i think there’s kind of a close up of the flute as well. Sounding great on the Noy. I am playing your old boxwood these days. I really like this flute. Someone will get a great deal if they have Peter make a body. One thing I like about this embuochre cut is the how you can feel it with your lips because its so big. I can feel how much I’m covering the hole. When I cover to the extreme and aim dead down into the hole I can get the reediest tone out of it on any flute I’ve tried though I lose the control in the second octave so have to work on backing off the hole to gt a nicer tone there but the first octave reediness and overtone rich sound is amazing with this approach.
It fits my old Blackman flute to some degree and I think would bring an old stuffy flute out really nicely.
I made some videos which you can hear down the page though I’d only had the flute for a few days then and can get a lot more out of it now.

Great to see the videos of the boxwood Noy! That is an epic flute, I played her non-stop for years. I’m really glad to see someone getting a nice tone out of her and putting her to good use. The only reason I sold that flute was because I hated seeing it not being played, and here where I live I really find I need the keys alot because of all the fiddle and concertina players with their not flute type tunes. I couldn’t bear to see that flute just sitting on my shelf so I’m delighted that you have it and like it. She looks really boss with the new rings as well!! I love the amber headcrown on that flute too, if only I could have figured out how to shoot fireballs from it 
Anyway stoked to see you playing it and you sound good on it? Where do you live? If you’re ever coming over to the west of Ireland let me know we’ll get together for some tunes it would be fun. As far as I know there’s only one other guy I know in Ireland playing one of Noy’s flutes…seems strange as they are so nice but he’s not very well known over here yet I think.
Thanks for the good words concerning this headjoint. It’s a really nice one and I’m only selling it because it’s sitting here not being used. Yeah, I’m thinking it would be perfect for someone with an old flute body. Some of those old bodies are really good when with a nice headjoint on them. Or I suppose they could get Peter to make one as well. One cool thing about Peter too is he’ll make an E flat body that fits on the same head. I got one it’s pretty cool to be able to fit it on and play up in Eflat. Alright man take it easy. All the best-Damian

I’m in Glasgow at the moment and will get over to Lahinch at some point. I’ll look you up and you can meet your new Old flute again. Still getting to know the flute but am not in anyway disappointed I traded and Olwell for it. The Olwell was gathering dust as I have some nice antiques that I play more often than keyless flutes. The Noy was sort of the last great maker I hadn’t tried type of thing so I went for it. Take Care, Pat
