Peter Horan's "Andy McGann's"?

My wife was browsing through Trip to Sligo two nights ago, and stumbled across this gem in the Peter Horan section. Now I’m trying to track down a recording. Only problem is, all the tunes called “Andy McGann’s” on the net appear to be different tunes.

In ABC, the A part is something like this (key of G):

DE|G2BG d2dB|AGFG AB (3cBA|BGGF GABc|defd cAFA|
B~G3 D~G3|cBAG FGAc|B2GB cBAG|FDEF G2

Does that ring any bells?

It’s listed in Breathnach 2 as I’m waiting for you (CRE2 no 176). Same name in O’Neill (DMI 711). It’s a good piper’s tune, Breathnach’s setting is transcribed from Sean McAloon. I learnt it from Liam O’Flynn, can’t remember if it’s on any of his commercial recordings.

Ken

Thank you! That’s it all right.

Not sure why my earlier search of Ceolas didn’t turn it up, it’s right there indexed under both names.

Alas, turns out I don’t have a recording of this one. (Unless it’s under yet another name.) Must be the only one in the Peter Horan section I’m missing.

Liam Flynn recorded two tunes, the Sailor’s Cravat and I am waiting for you together but reversed the names (on the fine art of piping). Robbie Hannan recorded the Sailor’s Cravat as I am waiting for you  .

The tune was also famous played in a set by the Kilfenora, one of the tunes played with it was Gus Tierney’s (farewell to Ireland as Tommy Potts had it), can’t think of the thrid one in the set now.
