Peter Gabriel on tour in the US

For those Peter Gabriel fans in the US and Canada look out for him coming to town. The tour has already started. We were lucky to be invited to the first gig which they played in Germany for the Virgin Records 20th aniversary party. Excellent show, they played old and new stuff from the UP album. Although they were not allowed to use their own equipment it sounded superb. In between all the songs we were very impressed as Peter only spoke German to the audience. To make it on topic Richard Evans who plays all the accoustic instruments in the band is also playing whistles.

Lucky, lucky Goldies. I have been a Peter Gabriel fan for, oh I don’t know, 30 years or so and have never been able to see him in concert.

So this time I’m thinking I have a chance and then…THE ATLANTA SHOW WAS CANCELLED!!

Oh, by the way, GOldies failed to mention that he’s playing OVERTON whistles and is pictured doing so on the website.

Very Cool!
We got some tickets to see Peter Gabriel Monday night in Philly. Now I’m really excited!!

The last time I saw him was in the National Stadium in Dublin when he was with Genesis and sporting a reverse mohawk haircut. I still like his stuff after all these years. He’s allso been involved with the Afro-Celt Sound System.

All I can say is that it was a totally fantastic concert. Pure Rock theatre!

The Overton Whistle on “Mercy Street” was just right.

Still like … ? To my ears he’s been getting much better. By some oversight he seems to have left Wollongong off his itinery this time. Must just be a mistake.

Jim great to hear you liked the concert. I would love to have seen a “real” gig from him. When we saw him play they were not aloud to use a lot of their own equipment as they only played for just over an hour ;-(. (The total show was 13 hours long) Mercy Street sent shivers down my spine when they played that, more so as it is one of my most favourite songs. The “So” album was permanently being played in an old Triumph Spitfire I had in the late eighties whilst tearing around the country lanes of the West Country (England). Happy memories…

Wombat, obviously you didn’t look too closely as it looks like they are playing in Port Kembla on the 31st of November is that near Wollongong? … I thought I would give it a try
