Nice.

Now for a show of hands: how many of you read this story and thought, “man if I was the lucky fellow who got that car for 50p, I’d sell it right away and finally buy that set of pipes/Dipper/etc”

Caj

Apparently “do whatever the f*** you want” doesn’t mean what I thought.

 It sounds like the dude is making some progress in his understanding. That woman has her work cut out for her.

It’s things like this that remind me of the immortal words of

Bill and Ted

who said,

Be EXCELLENT to eachother.

yeah, I’d have to admit to that right away, even being a car guy.

This smells suspiciously like a PR stunt. That “Pissed wife sells philandering hubby’s car” story is a classic urban legend.

See snopes – The $50 Porsche, which even mentions the above incident.

I think it’s genuine. Most people who are going to listen to Kerrang (a digital radio station branded after a UK metal magazine) will already know about it. The station has fairly limited appeal and the “shock jock” in question is pretty much a non-entity in national terms and has remained so since the incident.

Besides the station’s target audience will almost all be aware of it’s existence through the magazine it’s named after, their website or the digital music video channel that also sports it’s name.

I don’t doubt that a car was sold on eBay for a very nice price; it’s very well documented. But one has to wonder about the motivation. Quoting from the snopes article – "Either a fed-up wife found inspiration in a decades-old urban legend, or a shock-jock is up to more of the usual. "

That story has been around in spurious form both in the US and the UK (where it likely originated) for a long time, so it’s not inconceivable that this is a case of life imitating art.

Yeah, any guy who really thinks that means," yes dear, by all means, go do what you want", has a LOT to learn in interpreting our language.

Fine.

Suit yourself.

Whatever.

Oh, boy! Thx!

Now you can buy that zoot-suit you’ve always wanted.

It can happen - in a manner of speaking anyway…

I picked up my current set of uilleann pipes (new for $1,800) for all of $350 since the guy was turned off to piping by a really bad local teacher who messed up his reed. It was a steal!

And don’t you feel guilty of that?

… he’s learning… the hard way.

Dang! I wish I woulda known about that (not that I’ve the money, but hey, I mighta talked some fool into loaning it to me… ).

That would never happen with my wife because we’re both too literal in our thinking. Therefore she would never say “Do what the f*** you want” in the first place.

It’s not a matter of hubby not interpreting correctly, it’s a failure of his wife’s communication skills and a vast lack of knowledge about the nature of her spouse.

It reminds me of a story from my childhood.
