All of a sudden I got several new items, so sometime next week I’ll be writing up quick reviews for the following items:
*Water Weasel Low F
*AlMount PVC Flute in F, made by our own Alan of Chiffy Chat
*Syn whistle, yet to arrive
*High impact polymer hard case for high whistles
If there are any preferences for one item/review over another, let me know and I’ll prioritize them - how fast I get them done will depend on homework levels next week.
Cranberry - yep. He’s got a bunch of cases, and I think he makes flutes too. I actually added a second to my order and maybe another CFer will be reviewing that one too.
Jim - Well, let me put it this way. I got the F monday morning. Didn’t get a chance to play it till Wednesday morning. And I placed an order for a D Wednesday night!
Geek4music - I injured my hand this weekend so I haven’t been able to make the reach on the Weasel yet, but I’m hoping that will clear up soon. I don’t know what Alan’s website is, I’m sorry. If you do a search here for “Chiffy Christmas” you might come up with it. Chats tend to go on between ~8 PM and ~2 AM eastern time, though of course it varies. if no one is in the room stick around for a bit and someone will join you.
Well heck, I thought everyone knew about Alans flutes. Though now Im jealous that he made you one in F. I have been playing and learning the flute on one of Alans flutes in D for about 3 months now and I dont think there is a better flute to learn on. And the price is right too. I know this, I wasted a lot of money buying lesser flutes that were know more than frustrating tubes that squeeked their irreferance at my stedfast attemps to make music with them. It wasn`t untill I got one of Alans flutes in my hands that actual notes were heard by Molly and Hank and my heart soured like a hawk. I have of late recieved one of Tony Dixons 3 piece flutes in rosewood which I am now playing most often but on those days when my lips rebel and nothing I do seems to work I can always pick up my Almount and play. Another neet thing that happened is that after playing Alans flute for a while I all of a sudden could play my bamboo flutes! Alan usually has a tune or two on the clips and snips site if you want to hear what they sound like. So if you are thinking of trying your hand at the other Irish trad instrument I highly recommend you spend 50 bucks on one of Alans flutes. And if you like playing the flute I would also highly recommend for your secound flute or first wooden flute one of Tony Dixons beauties. They are truely sweet and affordable. And the wait is not to long. Both Alan and Tony are fine humans to deal with and you life will be inrichened by both of them.
