Peggy on the Settle?

So I am listening to Tommy Keane & Jacqueline McCarthy’s The Wind Among the Rushes. Gorgeous stuff.

Track 13 is Tory Island/Peggy On the Settle. Now, I could swear that second tune was the Pigeon on the Gate… Is Peggy On the Settle another name, or is it one of those variants, or am I crazy and it’s a different tune?

What does “Peggy on the Settle” mean, btw? Settee, I’d understand, but settle?

A settle is highbacked bench with the sides closed, and top covered (but not always, I seem to recall).

“Peggy”…is that an adjective?

I can see a slight similarity in the A part, but the B part seems quite different to me. Not a bad album, though.

I just listened again. You’re right about the B Part. Very nice one, though.

I like their version of Cornerhouse, too.
