Former Split Enz and Crowded House drummer Paul Hester died in Melbourne over the weekend in what appears to have been a suicide. Hugley personable and popular, his death was wholly unexpected. Very sad. 
Very sad news indeed! I was lucky to see Crowded House play many times when they came to England and was a big fan of them. I always enjoyed their humour on stage and Paul was a big part of that. I have many happy memories with their music being the sound track of that part of my life.

Paul had a very dry sense of humour. Probably sick of endless comparisons with the Beatles, on one occasion Paul replied to the usual question: ‘There’s no comparison at all. There were four of them but only three of us.’

I saw this on the BBC news before logging on here and it said that he leaves behind a wife and two young daughters,aged eight and ten.
I guess we never really know what some people suffer through before it all gets to much.
May he find the peace that he seeks.

I thought that band made impeccable pop music. Sad.
