Patina on Burke brass whistles?

Hi,
I am thinking about purchasing a Burke Low D in brass and have always liked a nice patina on my whistles alhough I have never had a low whistle in brass. How do the Burke brass whistles look when aged, so to speak? Any pics?

You can create a very nice patterned green patina by placing the whistle in a zip-lock bag with some chewing tobacco soaked in amonia cleaner. Crumpled strips of clean paper can be substituted for the tobacco and Lemon juice for the amonia, but more time will be needed to achieve a heavy green patina. Please give the inner bore a heavy waxing, or you will have to polish it smooth with a lot of elbow grease!!

If you have any Graphic Arts Training…Application of a photo silk screen pattern followed by soaking in amonia can produce intricate designs. you can also use this method for application of Gold and Silver Leaf.

I suggest a library copy of “The Complete Metalsmith” by Tim McCreight

I have never polished mine–I like that the aged patina announces that I actually play it. No pic, sorry.

But there is something wonderful about a fresh, shiny new one straight out of the box.
