Pat Robertson at his finest

Can you believe this guy? I have never been able to stand this joker. I’m terrified that someday he might run for president.

Wow :astonished: that guy’s lost his marbles!

I rather hope he does. A futile attempt at gaining political office would (hopefully) drain his, and his followers’ bank accounts. His statements are so far out from what conservatism is about as to put his type orbiting beyond sight.

I saw a similar report about this earlier on today but I didn’t know if he was just a nutter or someone who might have a following in the US.

I wouldn’t worry about a presidential bid. He’s getting a bit aged, and it would be a while before he’d find a spot on the roster.
Odds are, if he ever runs, it’ll be with the assurance that God’s going to “take him home” if he doesn’t win and, in this case, there’s a good chance God will fulfill his expectations.

This is scary! But it has it’s counterpart and that is well known and the two can be compared.

“FATWAH” definition below.

He sounds like a good argument against having a theocracy in any country.

He sounds like an even bigger reason to start calling him Poop Robertson…

(Ok, sorry, that was purile  )

Goodness NO! If that happened then the Democrats would choose Jessie Jackson to run and we would have to vote for one or the other!

Yes, you’d have too…Jessie Jackson will hold a gun to your head at the voting booth, and Poop Robertson will declare a fatwah on those who dont vote for him! :boggle: It’ll be the 2000 campaign all over again :stuck_out_tongue:

Whhops, edited for deferred spelling!

The US has a long history of covert involvement in manipulating the political landscape in S America. Since, as the article points out, Venezuela is the 5th largest oil exporter to the US, it is highly likely that the US is, in fact, already working to keep Chavez’ government weak and its economy in turmoil. Anyone who wants to better their country by using oil as a bargaining chip is begging for US Imperial storm troopers to come in and “settle things”. Its the American way.

the guy has been a fool for many years…yet people keep praising him…

Oh… he does have a following.

from Religion | Fox News “Robertson, 75, founder of the Christian Coalition of America and a former presidential candidate, accused the United States of failing to act when Chavez was briefly overthrown in 2002.”

Thankfully, I think his following is getting smaller and smaller all the time.

what i don’t get: why are so many Christian conservatives for the death penalty? How is that in any shape or form consistent with the 10 commandments?

I seem to remember quite a few years ago (if my memory serves me correctly) that Pat was trying to raise a bunch of money for some-such-or-other, and he promised that if he didn’t raise X-amount, the “Good Lord would take me away”. He came short of his mark… aparently the Good Lord wasn’t paying attention on that particular day… or wanted absolutely nothing to do with the lunatic.

Golly, I wish the Gool Lord was paying closer attention

'nuff said.

I think that might have been Oral Roberts. Similar last name, same employer, and the same modus operandi. They could be twins.

Pat Robertson belongs to an elite club of right wing nut-jobs. Another outstanding member is Rush Limbaugh who baselessly compared Cindy Sheehan to Bill Burkett: “Her story is nothing more than forged documents” he said.

Hear it for yourself

And who can forget the day Jerry Falwell was interviewed on Pat Robertson’s “700 Club” a few days after 9-11 where he blamed the event on the ACLU, Gays and Lesbians etc.

======================================

PAT ROBERTSON: Jerry, that’s my feeling. I think we’ve just seen the antechamber to terror. We haven’t even begun to see what they can do to the major population.

JERRY FALWELL: The ACLU’s got to take a lot of blame for this.

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, yes.

JERRY FALWELL: And, I know that I’ll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say ‘you helped this happen’.

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I totally concur, and the problem is we have adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government. And so we’re responsible as a free society for what the top people do. And, the top people, of course, is the court system.

JERRY FALWELL: Amen. Pat, did you notice yesterday? The ACLU, and all the Christ-haters, the People For the American Way, NOW, etc. were totally disregarded by the Democrats and the Republicans in both houses of Congress as they went out on the steps and called out on to God in prayer and sang ‘God Bless America’ and said ‘let the ACLU be hanged’. In other words, when the nation is on its knees, the only normal and natural and spiritual thing to do is what we ought to be doing all the time- calling upon God.

PAT ROBERTSON: Amen.

That’s the dude!!! My mistake. These larger than life (or God) faux-preachers (IMHO) all start to seem the same to me after a while. :stuck_out_tongue:
