Parkhursts and Tweaked Clarke Originals

Does anybody know anything about these whistles? I’m guessing there isn’t a waiting list for the Clarke so I could get it by Christmas. What about the Parkhurst? Also, I know a Sindt is about the same price as a Parkhurst, but I wouldn’t get it in time for Christmas. Does anybody know of any other good whistle for about the same price (around $80)? Good-bye!

Brent

I don’t know what the current waiting period is for a Parkhurst, but I’m sure Dave would be happy to give you an estimate if you contacted him.
As for Sindts, their waiting period was estimated at eight months back in the summer when I got my name put on the waiting list.
I think I remember you mentioning that you already have a Silkstone, so let me suggest a getting a Burke.
I doubt that you’d get it by Christmas if you ordered direct from Mike, but Song of the Sea usually keeps several in stock.
Of all my whistles, my Burke aluminum pro D is still my favorite… hands down.

My experience is limited (maybe about 25 whistles from a dozen or so manufacturers - Copeland, various clarkes, O’Briain IMproved, feadog, Generation, Oak, Susato,Silkstone, Chieftain etc). Board members won’t be surprised that I recomend you consider the Glenn Schultz WaterWeasel. Its tunable PVC. Mine is dead on tuning, and session suitable. At last glance it was under US$80 (I think about CDN$4,000,000.)I liked it so much, I went back and bought from Glenn Eb,C,Bb,F all in PVC.

A Water Weasel is indeed a very fine whistle, and Glenn Schultz is one of the nicest people you’ll ever encounter.
I don’t know how busy Glenn is considering how close Christmas is, but he’s always very prompt and courteous with E-mail replies.
Although the wait for one of Glenn’s wooden whistles can be a while, he can make PVC whistles much faster… I’d say you could probably get one by Christmas if not sooner.
Another plus is that you can buy any key Water Weasel Glenn makes and stay within your $80 price range… excluding shipping charges, of course.
