Paddy Moloney playing a Sindt?

I just saw a National Geographic channel show that had a segment on the chieftains teaming up with bluegrass musicians and I thought the whistle Paddy was using looked a lot like a Sindt. Anyone know if he is using one now?

I know he has a Generation and an Elfsong.

I have seen him on television several times recently playing one yes.

On Dale’s High](http://www.chiffandfipple.com/Expens.html%22%3EHigh) End whistle page he mentions that he gave a Sindt D to Turlach Boylan. I saw turlach at session last sunday, and he brought his flute/whistles (he’s been bringing banjos lately)…the whistle he played was a Sindt, so I assume it’s the one Dale gave him.

Recently, I was at the Chieftains 40th Anniversary celebration TV taping in Nashville (“Down The Old Plank Road”) and yes, he was playing a Sindt D, along with a couple other whistles in different keys that were black. Couldn’t tell what they were even with my binocs. He played the Sindt on most of the songs. For those who have the Down The Old Plank Road CD, that incredible solo he does in the finale is the Sindt.

(Edited for a typo)

A Burke from what I understand-those are most likely the Composites (black whistles).

Eric,

Could be, but they didn’t really sound like Burke composites and had what appeared to be some gold banding or detailing of some sort. Hmmmm…
