Hello all,

Does any one have a transciption of Paddy Keenan’s Avalon. (http://www.paddykeenan.com/multimedia.htm)
I’ve been trying to pick it up by ear, but quite frankly I’m useless.

Great tune. I love the bit when he’s playing the pipes, just chanter and drones, and the moment he hits that first regulator chord is just scintillating. I love the sound of well-tuned pipes, there’s nothing like it.

I’m afraid you won’t find the dots for it (Paddy’s late brother Johnny composed it, but you can bet he never wrote it down), but since it’s an mp3, have you tried using slowdown software? It works, all you have to supply is the patience and time.


I’ve been weaning myself off of sheet music using slowdown software, and the results are encouraging. I’m finding it easier to learn tunes off by ear now.

I’ll try the slowdown software (I found a plugin for winamp) and see if that helps.
