Has anybody ever notated paddy’s playing on tunes like colonel fraser and the bunch of keys, as i can’t work out what he’s doing just by listening - ben walker does a good job on colonel fraser on the clips and snips forum using some of paddy’s tricks but again it’s too fast for me to work it out
I know someone who has done it with Paddy’s version of the Bucks of Oranmore. He slowed down the recording of that tune from the Doublin’ CD and transcribed what he heard.
The difficulty with trying to do this with Paddy’s piping is that he uses so much variation. For instance, the version of the Bucks on the Doublin’ CD is different from other versions I’ve heard PK play.
Is that what he calls “free-falling”?
