Overtons and Thin Weasels for sale

No, not mine, what are ya crazy?!?

However there are a few really fine used whistles currently for sale (on consignment) through David Migoya at Fyfer restorations. These include: 2 wooden Thin Weasels one in D and the other in A, plus an Overton Low F and a Big Hole Goldie Overton Low D, the latter being the closest thing you’re likely to find to Davy Spillane’s original Overton Low D.

There is no potential personal gain for me in mentioning these items, I only do so because A) Normally there’s a waiting list for all of the above mentioned whistles, and B) Having recently found out who the owner of the whistles is (Not David), I can tell you that all the whistles are likely in perfect condition and practically new looking. Over the past 2 years I have purchased a number of whistles and a flute from the same person and I can tell you every instrument was in the best possible condition.

So, for anyone who’s been wanting a Thin Weasel or an Overton, without the wait, this might be a great opportuninty for you. Good Luck!

Loren
P.S. I believe the description David has of the Thin Wheasels is a little off: To my knowledge the fittings are stainless steel, not silver. While the fipple blocks may look like wood, I’m 99% sure these whistles aren’t old enough to have anything other than the synthetic material Glenn has used in recent years.

Hey Loren, how much difference is there in a “big hole” Overton low D in comparison to a standard model?
I know whistles with big holes usually have a longer finger stretch as well.
If this is the case, I couldn’t manage this particular low D… but the Overton low F would be well within my reach.

Raindog,

The difference between my standard Goldie Low D and my Big Hole is as follows.

Left hand stretch is + 3mm for Big Hole compared to standard

Right hand stretch is + 11mm

Hope this helps.

Loren
