My much beloved Burke Hi-D Sesson Composite suffered a near fatal injury at a recent gig. It somehow got itself in the path of the car door and was crunched severely.
I’m afraid it may have been a suicide attempt as I was foolish enough to say I might play Jenny Nettles on my flute instead of my whistle at the gig. Turned out I played everything on my flute.
I’m hoping Mike can make a new tube for it and that, with some counseling, we’ll be able to get past this tragic chapter in our relationship and play together again some day.
Doc
Many MANY moons ago I had the headjoint of my silverfloot smashed in a firedoor.
Someone thought it would be funny to try and close the door on me.
It wasn’t funny.
I feel your pain.
Patrick, my Burke composite d tube broke into two pieces about 9 years ago. The two pieces fit together perfectly, so I superglued them together and it works fine to this day.

I’m looking at way too many pieces for that approach I’m afraid. It’ll have to be a body transplant.
Doc
I closed the door a month ago and my Burke was stuck in between. Luckily, just it’s rear end got bend a little. Now it’s slightly oval but still plays well…
Hope yours recovers quickly…
Here’s hope for a speedy recovery, Doc. Several years ago I smashed my all-time, very favorite whistle in my truck door. Right across the window. Death was instant. There was nothing anything could do.
Say, this gives me an idea for a new thread…

Oh, no! Good luck with the brain/body transplant.
