OT

I thought it stood for “overtime”

Tres

I thought it stood for outta tune!

Since, when I’m not here, I spend most of my time on church-related sites (I administer “EpiscoTalk”…an Anglican/Episcopal discussion board), I keep seeing it and thinking “Old Testament”

Redwolf

In reference to me it stands for “Outta Tune.”

Vinny

How about ‘obviously tortological’. (Tortology means doing the same thing twice).

My little comment on the fact that we already had a perfectly good thread running on this theme.

Steve

Hey, Steve, it’s not my language, but do you perhaps mean Tautology? Which would be the same thing as a pleionasm? Like, you know, two of the same thing. But I may be Off Track.

My spelling was off, but yes that’s it. But, we are also two of the same thing (in a sense): illiterates. 'Cos, I think it’s Pleionism.

You’re right, Steve. And wrong. We are both illiterates, but it is spelled pleonasm, not pleionism and not pleionasm. Now get back to the store and send some more free Megs out.

Actually, I was thinking that TORTological, (as opposed to TAUTological) could be more to do with legal stuff (as in: torts - or writs; or is it writes!!) Taut is reminds me of tight, as in…as a newt! Some maybe when I’m drunk, I’ll sue (or is it Sew?)

Ha! Steve Powers is drunk and posting on c&f! What a hoot (as they say here). I’ll start calling you Old Tankard, next…

Hey all of you,

watch out for the “spelling Police”

remember him/her from the past?
Is he/she still among us?

Otter

Ahhhh… It’s Otter Time!

Well, I don’t know if the original is still around, however I do have nearly inimitable spelling skills, and I would be glad to offer them in the service of the board, if deemed necessary. :stuck_out_tongue:

As far as OT, if you subscribe to the theory that Tinwhistle is one word, I would proclaim it to be “Obstreperous Tinwhistle”

I thought tortology was the study of pastry!

Mmmmm…pastry

One of the best T-shirst I ever saw said, “All tautologies are tautologies.” A tautology in logic is a statement that is always true regardless of circumstances.

Surely the study of pastry is TARTology!

Steve (Optimistically Triumphant!)

I have thoroughly enjoyed these guesses at what OT really means!

Best wishes, Old Tom

Ostentatious Torture?

Mmmmm, Torts…
