Even though it was disappointing to the see the US team lose last night, I have to say I have found most games in this cup extremely entertaining. The level of play has been extremely high, and we’ve had none of the trappings of men’s professional soccer: playing the clock, overacting, etc. It is a shame that in spite of such talented players, the WUSA had to fold because it wasn’t making money.
Gee, that money issue again…
That, in addition to their loss to Germany, must have been on all these women’s minds last night: no job to go back to next year. Shame.
I agree that it really is too bad that the Women’s season is done this year. What I think is worse however is that we won’t get to play Norway in the next Olympics. The way Europe is set of for olympic soccer/football makes the Women’s World Cup a qualifier. Since Norway didn’t do all that well in the tournament, they have not qualified for the olympics. I think that a team that in recent years has won both the World Cup and Olympic gold should be allowed to play.

Amen to that, pthouron! It’s a pity I could not watch yesterday’s match. Hope I can make the final. Hey, this time the German teamwill win for a change… ![]()
Seth,
I wasn’t aware of that rule. Pity. I am still hoping some philanthropic mind with loads of cash will bail the WUSA out. I hadn’t enjoyed watching soccer so much in a long time. Sort of the way I enjoy watching minor league baseball vs. the “major league millionaires”…
