Anyone know where I can find some nice free background with a celtic theme? I’m exploring the possibility of moving the Annex to a real site, but I cant figure out how to move the current Annex background to Frontpage without all the gunk that comes with it. (Anyone good with HTML who could help?)
Otherwise i need to find a new nice background…Im dizzy from looking at all of the sites on yahoo that have backgrounds but they are all the same and none seem to fit waht would be best for the Annex.
I agree with you on the whole frontpage crapanola. (I just got my bachelors in web progamming, so I’m a little biased. About the only thing that is worse is going from Word to the web……but I digress again…doing that a lot this am.)
Go out to google, and do a search for “Free celtic webart”, and you will find a ton of stuff. A lot are link-free, which means that you would have to put a line on the front page saying “Graphics provided by…”, and maybe a link if you have a links page.
As far as the HTML, I can probably help you clean up the code, but it isn’t really that hard. Just get a decent HTML book (Even the For Dummies series isn’t bad), and you shouldn’t have too much problem.
The only place you might have problems is if you have a lot of frontpage “effect”, such as flashing buttons, flying menus, whistling anvils, whatever they have. Those might take a little more to translate into the appropriate javascript.

try this site, I like it. http://www.endeffect.com or http://www.soulbath.com. both are kind of funky and have great backgrounds. Endeffect.com has great graphics, you may have to dig just a little. Soulbath after you get though the beginning stuff, you will find a tower, each wall has different web artists that have stuff available, click and check then out. I don’t know if any have specific Irish themes, but you never know. Also http://www.limmy.com is worth a look,especially if you are into web design.
