OT: Transfering from minidisc to computer--help?

Well, you can guess what I’m trying to do. The system I used to transfer tape recordings to computer isn’t working. I think I have all the necessary cables but I must not understand the concept here. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Carol

Carol if you’re on, come to chat and I’ll try to help.

If not - you want to run a stereo cable from the headphone jack on your MD device into the Line In on your sound card. Then - I presume you’re using Goldwave? - go to Device Controls, Properties, Volume, and make sure your line in is the one checkmarked. At this point you should be able to press play on your MD and record the input into goldwave as one massive wav file. After that you’ll have to break it out into seperate files, convert to mp3, all that fun stuff.

On my way! Thanks!

Well, you have to admit those little input things look very much alike, right? coughs

A big thank you to the fine technical support staff at C&F for their generous time in the chatroom. We have blastoff.

I recently found a file with stoopid name but a lot of good information on transferring sound files to PC, including lists of free software to break down the big wave file into tracks:
