OT There's hope for world peace...

I got an email from this guy. I don’t have his permission to use his name, so I won’t. It’s just a small misunderstanding, but, I love it. The world is definitely shrinking. I wish I could meet all the whistle players I’ve corresponded with around the world.

Hiz..
I am a tin whistle player in SG and I happended to see your message posted in June 2001 on the Chifff & Fipple msg board. I am wondering if the group you have mentioned is still around or are still gathering at some place.
Thanks.

(My response)
Hi …,
Yes the group still functions every Sunday afternoon from 230 to 530pm. Where the heck is SG? The session meets at different houses in Oakland and Berkeley mostly. You need to find out the week you plan on attending where
it is. I personally have cut back a lot on attending the sessions because I joined a band and we practice on a weeknight and play in Alameda on Sunday evenings. Anyway, if you want to know, let me know and I’ll get the info to you.
Take care,
Tony

Hi Tony,
My apologies!!! I thought that you were part of the Singaporean whistle group (the net name for Singapore is sg, as in for eg http://www.yahoo.com.sg). Anyway, its good to touch base with another whistler player from some place else. Cheers!

Does that mean there’s actually a Singapore whistle group? Amazing.

Tony, if you don’t mind, could you put that person in touch with me (since Eldarion, the serious whistler, is undergoing National Service).

I probably deleted his email after I emailed him back. If it’s still in the deleted file, I’ll get it out and have him contact you.

The Chicago Police Dept in the 1920’s was made up of Irish pipers because of Capt O’Neill. I wonder if Eldarion will get the Singapore police to all become whistlers.
Tony

Actually, our Singapore Police Force has a women’s bagpipers band with a pretty long and distinguished history. Our British colonial heritage and all.

[post-edit] oh yes, I received your private msg. Thanks.
